Yoga schmoga

I went to my first yoga class yesterday. It was interesting. I went with my friend Patty. Which made it fun for me. I do much better in a new situation if I have someone I can shoot looks at, like "did you see what that girl just did?!?! Holy shit!" She shot back several "OH MY GOD"s.

It's a good system.

I can see how this yoga thing can be good for me. I think I used every muscle on my body. Many of them haven't been used in years. So, needless to say, they are PISSED. I am sore all over. My ears even hurt.

But I will go back. I have done the worst class - the first. So, it should get easier.

Right?

Please tell me it will get better!

BTW - on a side note I discovered that getting a pedicure right before you go to yoga is a bad idea. There was some mat slippage, which I think was probably good for my legs.

I am sooo glad I got one, though! I had me some pretty grusome feet! You know it's bad when the woman giving you said pedicure is grossed out. She admonished me for waiting so long. I felt like I was about to be grounded.

I am so sorry! I will resume getting regular pedicures. I don't want to be one of the ones the pedicure women roll their eyes at when I walk in.

I'm so torn when it comes to pedicures. I love the look and feel of pretty pedicured feet, but the actual pedicure process is TORTURE on me. That's how uber sensitive my feet are to touch, everything TICKLES. And usually I spend the whole pedicure terrified that I'm going to squeal like a third grader and kick the pedicurist in the nose.

Oh, and yoga? Good luck.

I have always wanted to try yoga, but the class times never seem to fit my schedule.

Yeah, isn't that a classic excuse?

As for pedicures/manicures or anything indulgent for that matter, went right out the window when Mr. Personality came into the picture and I decided to stay home.

It does get better. The best part is in about 6 weeks when you discover that somehow, you can actually put your legs where they want you to, and not some modified position that hurts less.

If you discover the way to overcome mat slippage, do tell! I seem to have that problem whether or not I just had a pedi. Maybe I just have sweaty feet...

Pedicures... love me some pedicures! Nothing like pretty feet! That would even make Yoga fun: to keep looking down and seeing pretty feet...

Ok, you learn all the stuff. Teach me via phone and email, then when we finally live in the same town I can go WITH you and won't be the embarassing woman in the back that keeps falling over. Much.

Congrats on the class.

Sorry to hear about the gruesome feet though, I hope they get to feeling/looking better soon. Don't want the lady mad at you...

Gina, it does get better. Eventually. I remember taking Pilates for the first time and I almost shit myself. Yeah. It HURT. But I stuck with it and after a couple of weeks I was doing moves just like the rest of 'em.

So hang in there, darlin', and make sure you've got your next pedi appointment lined up!

I'm not a huge yoga or pilates gal myself. I figure, I need to lose the 15lbs of extra body fat before all that posing and stretching will do anything but make me feel fat and ridiculous!
